Story of second Jyotirlinga mallikarjun Mahadev


  • the story of the primary Jyotirlinga. In continuation to the primary , lets determine about the second Jyotirling. It's situated in Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh . This has been mentioned in Shivapuran's Koti Rudra Samhita.
  •  The story of the second jyotirlinga begins on the note, One fine day, Lord Ganesha & Kartikeya started fighting over getting married. So both of them visited their parents & told them, Hearing this Lord Shiva & Parvati were so glad & told them, Hearing this Lord Shiva & Parvati were so glad & told them, As soon as Kartikeya heard this, he sat on his peacock & started his journey. 
  • But Lord Ganesha & his mouse weren't as fast as Kartikeya & his peacock, Lord Ganesha rattled his brain & decided, He asked his parents to take a seat together on a rock, Lord Ganesha, then took 7 circles around them & that's how we won the challenge. 
  • Lord Shiva & Parvati were very impressed by Lord Ganesha's intelligence & got him married. After an extended time when Kartikeya returned completing the task, he was disappointed to ascertain Lord Ganesha married. He later took blessings of his parents & left in peace.
  •  Karthikey decided to reside in Krauncha Mountain. Lord Shiva & Parvathi sent Devarshi Narad to elucidate Karthikey to return back home Narad tried very hard to convince Karthikey to return, but he refused. After some days Lord Shiva & Parvathi both decided to satisfy Karthikey & started thier journey to Kraunch Mountains. 
  • Karthikey came to understand of their visit & travelled exactly 36kms - 22 miles from the mountains. At that point , Lord Shiva took the shape of Jyotirlinga at the place. Since then it had been called as Mallikarjun Jytoirling. 
  • Parvathi is named as Mallika & Lord Shiva is additionally referred as Arjun, that's its called Mallikarjun. this is often the sole temple where Mother Sati's corpse pieces were fallen, So this place is Jyotirling & Shaktipit.
